Some factors affecting the properties of steel structure

With the progress of technology, the quality of steel produced and processed by steel structure processing enterprises is also improving. In general, there are many factors that affect steel construction. In addition to the characteristics of steel structure itself, it is also affected by the external environment. The following factors will affect the performance of steel structure:

1. Strength. Steel strength index includes: elasticity, yield, tensile three aspects, in the design of the yield strength of steel, thus reducing the weight of the structure, save the material, reduce the cost. The tensile strength of reinforced concrete refers to the maximum stress that the steel bar can bear before fracture. In this case, the reinforced concrete loses its normal working ability due to plastic deformation, but it can still maintain good stability under larger deformation.

2. Toughness. In general, the plasticity of steel refers to the obvious plastic deformation without fracture after the stress reaches the yield point.

3. Cold bending strength. The cold bending property of steel refers to its ability to resist crack when plastic deformation occurs during bending at high temperature. The cold bending of steel is tested by cold bending test under a certain bending strength.

4, impact strength. The impact toughness of steel refers to the mechanical energy generated at fracture when the material is subjected to impact load. It is a material capable of bearing impact load, and it may cause brittle fracture due to low temperature and stress concentration. The impact toughness index of steel is usually obtained from standard specimens.

5, welding performance. Steel welding performance refers to the specified welding process conditions, the weld has excellent performance. Its welding characteristics are mainly divided into two categories: one is carried out in the welding process, the other is carried out in the working state. Weldability means that during the welding process, the weld and the metal around the weld will not have thermal cracking, nor will there be cooling and shrinkage cracking.

6. Durability. The durability of steel is affected by many factors. First, the corrosion resistance of steel is poor, so effective protection measures should be taken to avoid its corrosion and rust. To adopt the following methods: steel coating maintenance on a regular basis, using electric galvanized steel plate, under strong acid, alkali, salt corrosion environment, special protective measures, such as offshore platform structure adopt "anodic protection", in order to prevent the corrosion of pipe rack, zinc block fixed on the pipe rack, enable it to play a protective role. Secondly, under high temperature and long time load, the shear strength of steel is obviously lower than the short-term tensile strength.
